I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF, MY NAME IS MELISSA WESTBROOK (SOME PEOPLE CALL ME 'WESTBROOK') AND I LIVE AT AQUINAS COLLEGE IN NORTH ADELAIDE (YES THE VERY SAME ONE THAT EMILY SMUDER LIVES AT), WHICH IS IN THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, AUSTRALIA. I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE CAPSLOCK KEY AND NOW I AM PROBABLY GIVING THE PEOPLE READING THIS THE IMPRESSION THAT I AM SHOUTING. I APOLOGISE PROFUSELY FOR THIS BUT I AM SERIOUSLY LAZY. EMILY CAN VOUCH FOR THIS. I NEVER TURN UP TO MY PHILOSOPHY LECTURES AND SHE'S ALWAYS LEFT SITTING THERE BY HER SELF LIKE MR NIGEL NO-FRIENDS. AS SUCH I AM SO INCREDIBLY LAZY THAT I CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO HIT THE CAPSLOCK KEY AGAIN TO TURN THEM OFF.
ANYHOO, I HAVE AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL OF YOU READING THIS.
EMILY SMUDER IS ONE COOL BANANA*. NO SERIOUSLY. I MAY BE COMPLETELY CRAZY AND ALL BUT STILL, I KNOW A COOL BANANA WHEN I SEE ONE. AND EMILY IS ONE OF THEM. EMILY GETS INVOLVED IN LOTS OF STUFF OVER HERE LIKE PLAYING AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL. TODAY SHE KICKED A GOAL PLAYING FOOTY AND WHILE I WASN'T THERE TO SEE IT, I HEARD IT WASN'T A VERY GOOD ONE. BUT STILL, THE FACT THAT SHE'S AMERICAN AND SHE KICKED ONE ANYWAY IS PRETTY DARN BRILLIANT. EMILY IS ALSO COOL BECAUSE SHE LETS ME BORROW HER PHILOSOPHY HOMEWORK WHEN I HAVEN'T DONE MINE. EMILY ALSO DRINKS MORE BEER THAN ANY AMERICAN CHICK I HAVE EVER MET (AND IN MY TIME I HAVE ACTUALLY MET QUITE A FEW). FOR THIS I HAVE AN ENORMOUS RESPECT FOR HER (A LOT MORE THAN I HAVE FOR GEORGE BUSH ANYWAY. BUT I DIGRESS). WHEN SHE GOES BACK TO THE U.S. I WILL SEND HER A 6 PACK OF COOPERS SO SHE CAN SHARE THE GLORY OF AUSTRALIAN BEER WITH HER FELLOW AMERICAN MATES.
EMILY IS MY MATE AND SHE IS GOING HOME IN SIX WEEKS AND I WILL MISS HER A LOT.
THIS POST IS KIND OF TRIPPY, BUT I DON'T REALLY CARE. I HOPE I DON'T COME OFF LOOKING TO UNINTELLIGENT. I AM, AFTER ALL, AN ARTS STUDENT.

*cool banana - one seriously cool, hip, trendy (any American's reading this may even use the term 'fly') happening thing or person. Can be a descriptive phrase, ie 'hey, that dance you're doing is cool bananas!', or as a testment to the worthiness of ones character, ie. 'That Westbrook chick is not much of a cool banana'.

well gee... would you look at that? I'm a cool banana! The truth is that Mel is more of a cool banana than me! She really is, but she's correct when she says that she's pretty lazy--I do vouch for that. There are days that I sit and am "nigel no-friends" in philosophy lecture...sad really.
Mel is a very awesome person. I do not have cool words or great wit to use to describe her like she does with cool banana, but the awesomeness is high up there!I mean well, clearly Mel is awesome. The girl doesn't like to take crap from anyone and she'll let you know what's up if she needs too. She may not play footy and kick crappy goals like me but she did play basketball and although I didn't get to see her play I hear she's got mad skills. She's thinking of playing on the Uni club team..(Mel you really should join! how fun would that be?!)
What else makes Mel so awesome?! Well although she is kind of lazy with going to school she is still quite a brilliant and intelligent chick! She also can hold a job while going to uni. Granted I have one at home, but her job gives her crazy hours and she's such a trooper and puts up with drunk people at odd hours of the morning when she works late. She is the best Hungry Jacks counter girl I've ever seen! ( I mean that Mel! )
Mel has also traveled to Denmark and can speak Danish! I can't do that! I can barely speak spanish still! She got to roam around Europe while visiting Denmark and has heaps of stories to share about her travels.
Mel is my mate, and a very hilarious and great one, and when I leave in 6 weeks or however long I have... I'm going to miss her! If she sends me beer (cuz I apparently drink more beer than any american chick she's met) I will love her even more than I do now! and this would definitely make her so awesome, and such a cool banana!
Now my comment here I realize is not as cool as the message Mel left for all to read, but the girl is just much cooler than i am. She is quite brilliant with the words, wit and comedy. One of my favorite parts about Mel that I am going to miss are Sunday nights. We both don't have class on monday nights and we sometimes get to hang out on those nights and drink some beers. I will also miss her love of checking to see if Amber is home. :-) (you might have had to been there to understand and to find that funny ... but believe me it was funny)
So in conclusion let me just state again that this girl is wonderfully amazing and fun and awesome and hot and great in every single way! She keeps me on my toes with her wit and humor and laziness, because she just keeps me wondering if she'll show up to lecture or not. I will miss her at philosophy lectures, she makes them interesting when they are not.
Thanks for your post Mel it made me laugh and made me happy in general...I will miss you when I leave, but I will bug the crap out of you while I am back in the states...you can not get rid of me that easily and I will be expecting beer and your notes and comments through this blog and through email!
